I cut up an old sail to test the usefullness of this type of awning. It's pretty simple with just two poles to put up. Next I'll sew up one with good quality Sunbrella fabric that will last forever and not make any noise in the wind.
The photo is from a relative's wedding that we attended. After all the celebrations, I was in no shape to drive home and only had to flop into the teardrop.
Aw, that's nice! And there is something about that yellow color that tsrikes me personally -- it resonates from my childhood fantasies, because my dad had a couple of small airplanes that were that color (Piper Cub and Aeronca Super Chief), the final one wrecked in a hurricane just before I was born, thus short-circuiting any chance my dad would fulfill his fantasy of teaching me to fly (that was the end of the era when the working-class man could easily own an airplane; behind our barn I would grow up watching the wing to the last ship slowly molder away and get covered with leaves...). But man, when I see that yellow, it says 'adventure and good times.' I suppose I ought to paint my next outrigger that color, now that I think of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's the color or the shape but no one seems to be able to walk by it without starting a conversation. It's a lot like having an outrigger canoe at the launching ramp.
ReplyDeleteSo you will get later starts, huh? :-)
